Dopey Challenge Training Week 14, Days 3 & 4

This weeks Dopey Challenge Training (by Jeff Galloway), called for:

Tuesday 45 Minutes & Thursday 45 Minutes –  Read my previous training post here.

Saturday (Friday) 5.5 mile walk – I was able to do this Friday instead.  Fortunately, Brigid from the Two Rivers Running Club needed to run Friday evening after work as well.  She had 8 miles to do.  I ended up running the 8 with her, rather than the 5.5.  We ran 8.09 miles in 1:29:25 (11:04 min/mile pace).  This run felt really good.  The weather wasn’t ideal, the wind was insane, but the temps were still fairly nice.  It was good running weather and I was still comfortable in a light weight long sleeve shirt and shorts.

Sunday (Saturday) 15 mile run – I was able to do this Saturday morning.  There were 3 of us from the club that met up together.  Ally had 18 scheduled, I had 15 and Doug was going to do about 5.  Ally had a friend join us, on her bike.  Ally and I went out 7.5 and back 7.5.  We did 15.15 miles in 2:45:29 (10:55 min/mile pace).  I wasn’t sure what to expect from my legs this morning after the 8 miles on friday.  We kept the pace between a 10:30 and an 11:00 which was comfortable, not to hard, but not to easy.  We walked just long enough at the 4 mile, 8 mile and 12 mile for fuel.  This run felt just as good as the 8 miles did the night before.  However, afterwards it was quite difficult to walk the rest of the day.  Here is our post run selfie of myself, Ally and her friend that biked the 15 miles with us.

Next Week calls for:
Tuesday: 45 minutes
Thursday: 45 minutes
Saturday: 3 mile walk

After my run on Saturday, I decided to visit our local running store, Two Rivers Running Company, to stock up on some more Gu and Gu Brew.
imageI had to get my favorite flavor, Salted Caramel, but then I also spotted a new Sea Salt Chocolate.  I picked up one of those and then one of the Cherry Lime Gu Roctane.  I’ll give one, or maybe both, a try on my next long run in 2 weeks.  I also got another tube of Tri Berry Gu Brew.  This is my favorite out of the 3 flavors they carry at the store.

I chatted with the owner, Steve, for a while.  He mentioned that they are going to move the shoe store, temporarily into the bike shop, for the winter months.  They will be clearing out a corner of their bike shop to re-locate the shoes to.  So if you are a regular visitor, or plan on making a visit in the future, you’ll have to look for them next door instead.  Steve will be posting a sign on the door of the running store to alert customers that they have temporarily moved next door for a few months.  This is probably going to get me in trouble since it will cause me to browse the bike shop a little more than I had in the past.  It’s never too early to start thinking about triathlon #2…right.

I pulled into our driveway just after the mail lady had been there delivering the mail.  In our mailbox was a nice surprise for me.

I got a nice little vacation mailer from Disney regarding our reservation at the Pop Century resort for WDW Marathon weekend.

Sunday I went to Kohls and got 2 new pair of tights and a new sports bra.  I’m really liking the starry, galactic prints…it reminds me of Star Wars.
